BROWN PATCH - Rhizoctonia solani: brown patch normally occurs in midsummer and results in the formation of unsightly patches of blighted turf. The fungal disease is capable of killing tall fescue during extended periods of hot, humid weather.
DALLISGRASS is a coarse textured warm season perennial bunchgrass. It is grown as a forage grass in the southern U.S. but it is an objectionable grassy weed in the Mid- Atlantic region.
NUTSEDGE is a very difficult weed to control. They are perennial, grassy weeds and spread aggressively through their seeds, rhizomes (under creeping stems), or nuts (tubers).
WILD VIOLETS reproduce from seeds or rhizomes (underground creeping stems). They are beautiful when they are kept in the garden, but can become a problem if they escape into your turf.
FAIRY RINGS are usually caused by the common field mushroom, Psalliota (Agaricus) campestris; the fairy ring fungus, Marasmius oreades; or the poisonous mushroom, Chlorophyllum molybdites
WHITE GRUBS are among the most destructive insect pests of turfgrass. They feed below the soil surface on the roots and rhizomes of all commonly used turfgrass species and cultivars, and are capable of eliminating the entire root system of the plant.
